Convention student chapter/colony travel reimbursement

In an effort to assist chapters and colonies to defer some of their travel expenses, Delta Chi has a travel reimbursement program. It is not designed to cover a delegate's travel costs, but rather to lower the out-of-pocket expenses. It is best to spread this savings among all attendees, especially if car pooling or flying as a group.

Calculating your chapter's or colony's reimbursement

To figure the amount your chapter of colony will be credited after the completion of the International Convention, follow the below instructions:

  1. Measure the total one-way distance in miles between the city your chapter or colony is in and Cleveland, Ohio. The easiest way to do this is to just go to Mapquest and click on driving directions. Enter the city your chapte/colony is located in and it will give you a total number of miles.
  2. Subtract from that number the "no cover" zone of 500 miles surrounding Las Vegas, Nevada.
  3. Multiply the remaining mileage by TBA for TBA cents per mile.
  4. The Fraternity will round any pennies off to make billing more simple.

So for example, the Cornell Chapter reimbursement will look like this:

2,408 miles - 500 "no cover" zone = 1,908 total miles x TBA rate= $TBA reimbursed

Qualifiers for receiving full reimbursement

To receive the full reimbursement as a credit on your chapter/colony account, delegates must be present for all roll calls during legislative sessions and b staying at the Convention hotel (for 2008, the Riviera). Each roll call missed will result in a percentage of your travel reimbursement being voided. Once the time and total number of roll calls are decided as well as the penalty for staying elsewhere, that information will be posted here.
